   I didn't mean to say that I don't think MIDI is
used. I'm sure MIDI is used. I meant to say that I
think that the protocol used is more complex,
and that there is no way to tell the piano "send
file /sounds/sound1.all", other than by use of this
more complex protocol. Therefore I don't think I can
use a dump utility to capture the content of the file
sent over MIDI into a computer file.

 Thanks for pointing out to me the manual sections.
It seems that it describes the complete protocol.

 I was hoping that it is a more widely used protocol
to
transfer files from a piano's card into a computer. I
was hoping that if it was widely used, this newsgroup
would tell me that I can download a perl
implementation
of the protocol at http://... or ftp://...

 So I guess this protocol is not widely used, right ?

So I guess I'll have to implement the protocol myself.
 :) ... but that's OK, it's only going to take some
time.
