Re: tuner programs

For a cheap but possibly irrelevant solution, if the guy can run Winamp,
hook up a microphone to a linein:// URL in Winamp (or any sound file directly)
and switch to "Sexy scrolling voiceprint" mode. Muck around with the
sampling and display frequencies, and that's a pretty usable frequency-time
graph, except for the fact that it doesn't really display numerical
values of pitches. But it's cheap, and it's great for say, guitar
solo transcription, where it can help you pick out harmonized guitars
separately (e.g. Steve Vai and Mike Keneally doing The Attitude Song) or
whammy bar usage as opposed to single string bends.
Oh well. I thought I'd write anyway.
