shorten midi file

Hallo All,

I am new in the world of MIDI.
My problem is as follows:
I have midi files and I need to shorten them i.e I recquire only the initial 
1 min of the song.
Is there a possible way to do this in perl ? I have read the MIDI perl 
module from  but that did not tell me much.

I would be glad for u help and ur time.
