Installation Problem with package

HI,
  I installed OSS (evaluation version), MIDI and music
perl packages on my redhat 7.1 m/c.
  Then I tried to run test program,which is running
properly, not producing any voice. And then I tried to
create a midi file (example program). It created, but 
playing properly, but not producing voice (I can not
hear).
  I downloaded some midi file from net and I got
another midi file from example kandahar.midi, which
are playing and I can hear voice.
  I am using "playmidi" for playing midi files. I dont
know what is my primary audio device.
  Could anyone help me out?
