Next release:
  package Module::Build::ping;
  $VERSION = 0.31;

Build.PL
  BEGIN {
    eval {require Module::Build::ping}
    unless(Module::Build::ping->VERSION||0 > $version_I_want) {
      unshift(@INC, "inc/mb");
    }
  }

Or something tested.  Implicit in that is that you want something greater
than the one you've bundled.
