    I searched the files for mkdir statements and came up with a hack..
    :)<br>
    <br>
    In boot.c<br>
    <blockquote><font face="monospace">    par_init_env();</font><br>
      <br>
      <font face="monospace">    stmpdir = par_mktmpdir( argv );    </font><br>
      <font face="monospace">    if ( !stmpdir ) DIE;        /* error
        message has already been printed */</font><br>
      <br>
      <font face="monospace">    rc = my_mkdir(stmpdir, 0700);</font><br>
      <b><font face="monospace">// 2021-01-18 rmeden hack to print a
          message on first run</font></b><b><br>
      </b><b><font face="monospace">    if ( rc == 0 )
          fprintf(stderr,"Note: This will take a while on first run\n");</font></b><b><br>
      </b><b><font face="monospace">// rmeden</font></b><b><br>
      </b><font face="monospace">    if ( rc == -1 &amp;&amp; errno !=
        EEXIST) {</font><br>
      <font face="monospace">    fprintf(stderr, "%s: creation of
        private cache subdirectory %s failed (errno= %i)\n", </font><br>
      <font face="monospace">                        argv[0], stmpdir,
        errno);</font><br>
      <font face="monospace">     DIE;</font><br>
      <font face="monospace">    }</font><br>
    </blockquote>
    It's not a real fix  (it prints messages while building the
    package), but does appear to meet my needs.  I tried to find where
    it checks to see if the temp dir was already copied, but couldn't
    find it.  Heck, I don't see how the above code even works, but it
    seems to.   I'm willing to work on a real patch if I could be
    pointed in the right direction.<br>
