no.

* there are a lot of configurable MUA outthere (including thunderbird
with its plugin system, aerc, mh, sup... you name it).
* email workflows rely on external tools like mailutils
* emails are just files you can copy in directories, git, sync

webmails are the only kind of tools I know which takes you away from all
those opportunities.

yes: that what I have in mind saying "it depends": github does 1% of the job
but it's the percent we all need and it does it the same way for
everyone. and as Philippe mentionned: it integrates quite well with
emails so it's a good choice actually.

I wonder if it's good enough you can even open a topic by mail.
