As the PSC gets closer to making a decision about AI code contributions I want to raise the visibility of what the Linux Kernel recently decided <https://www.xda-developers.com/linux-kernel-now-allows-ai-written-code/>. Specifically: > AI agents MUST NOT add Signed-off-by tags. Only humans can legally > certify the Developer Certificate of Origin (DCO). The human submitter > is responsible for: > > * Reviewing all AI-generated code > * Ensuring compliance with licensing requirements > * Adding their own Signed-off-by tag to certify the DCO > * Taking full responsibility for the contribution > Personally I view AI code much like graphing calculators for math. The calculator can do 90% of the work for you, but if you don't understand the concepts then what's the point. AI is a great tool to */assist /*in code development, but there needs to be human guardrails along the way. The Linux Kernel guidelines seem like a pretty reasonable middle-ground. This is not intended to start an AI flamewar, just want to point out what other groups are doing, and possibly provide a starting point for our discussion. -- Scottchiefbaker
