Still think C<merge> and C<emerge> are cuter. :-)

And if we have to make up an antonym to C<merge>, let's choose C<unmerge>,
by analogy to C<unshift>, C<unpack>, C<untie>.

(And yes Tom, I *know* I'm advocating grafting a Germanic prefix to a
 Latinate word and that "no good can come of it" ;-)
