  open ERR, ">& STDERR";
  open STDERR, ">> error.log";
  warn "Message goes to error.log";
  print ERR "Message goes to stderr";

Not intuitive perhaps, but how often do you need to do this in a
script?  (Assume all error handling is automatic.)
