Well then, that makes this example rather wasteful, doesn't it?

  my Dog $spot;
  if ($input eq 'Collie') {
      $spot = Collie->new;
  } elsif ($input eq 'Dalmation') {
      $spot = Dalmation->new;
  }

Becuase we're creating two objects when we really only want one.
