I much prefer the layout and navigation of search.cpan.org.  That server 
is also mirrored on a couple of servers and on a domain with a long 
history of being available.

search.cpan.org is definitely not deprecated, it just has a different 
set of features and priorities than some people prefer.

To answer the question from another mail: Yes, Robert and I look after 
DNS[1] and the servers that site is running on. One or two in Los 
Angeles and one in London donated by Digital Craftsmen -
