I thought most of those had been weeded out some time ago. (The first
perl in my $PATH is 5.005_03, so I encountered a variety of such problems
some time ago, and sent in various patches to fix them.) In particular,
all the parrot-related Makefiles should be using $(PERL) instead of a raw
"perl".
I'm currently trying a subversion checkout, and will see if there are any
remaining obvious problem spots. However, the subversion process is so
slow and painful, it might be awhile!
