patch command fails on Windows

All I can get from the ppt patch on Windows are these errors:
Hunk #1 failed--Couldn't find anywhere to put hunk.

I've tracked it down to line ending confusion (crlf vs lf in a
couple of conflicting spots), but it'll
take me awhile to get around to a patch (or a patch patch :)
so if anyone wants to fix it first, great...

(is anyone there, yet?)
