Having bought the Archive vol 12 CD at the RISCOS 99 show, I have just discovered Gavin Wraith's application 'Velcro'. It is in the section corresponding to the magazine disc for vol. 12 no 1. (I don't get the discs, so I had not seen it before.) This is a simple application that puts an icon on the iconbar. Other slave apps, normally filters, that have a run file that takes a parameter can be dragged to it, and it then appear as icon bar apps themselves. Thus it provides similar funtionality to Acorns FrontEnd, but is much simpler to set up and use. (Of course you do not get quite the same flexibility, but if you need different parameter settings you can always use differnt slave apps.) Gavin uses it for gawk, but it should work just as well for Perl. This is potentially so useful that I am inclined to suggest it goes in the standard distribution.
