Perl freezes the whole machine every time I try to run it on my
father's RISC OS 4 RiscPC. I still haven't upgraded to RO4 myself,
mainly for fear of encountering such problems.

I was trying to run a small network client that works fine
on my own machine. Perhaps networking has been broken by RO4?

Could RO4 users out there please confirm that my father's
experience is a one off and that !Perl 1.13 does work.

There seem to be plenty of bugs in UnixLib (that's the trouble
with OPC). Which bug are you referring to specifically? What are
its symptoms?

If anyone succeeds in producing a more up to date Perl for
RISC OS, or even just a recompile with a less buggy UnixLib,
*please* make it available and let the list know. Thanks.
