Redirection is done with filenames à la UNIX, with full RISC OS pathnames being recognised by the "Unix" convertor. Offhand I can't remember the reason why it had to be like that, but I think that it has been stated on this mailing list in the past. (Note that a full RISC OS pathname is probably a valid Unix filename (or relative pathname if it contains any "/", but is almost certainly not a filename generated by a Unix user because : and $ have special meaning to the shell. Hence this assumption) What were the filenames that needed periods converted to slashes? Nick
