According to http://lists.perl.org/, the description of this list is: "A
discussion list for people who are interested in organising and
contributing to the scripts section of CPAN."  This is not a general help
list.  I'd suggest the comp.lang.perl.misc newsgroup or the perl-beginners
list (also listed on http://lists.perl.org/).

I'd also add that when you posted this to perl5-porters, Casey R. Tweten
replied to you telling you to go to http://lists.perl.org/, which should
have told you that this is not the proper place for this question.  Casey
also gave you a working solution to your problem.  And you posted the same
question to this list twice; once is sufficient, in any event.
