show-and-tell snippets

Howdy-
  Thanks to Richard for reminding me of this mailing list. Here's a
  question I've been meaning to send for some time.

  I've been using a rather icky win32 program called "TurboPerl"
  (http://www.erols.com/turboperl/) for a while because it provided a
  nice two-pane window like this:

			    |-----------|
			    |  src code |
			    |-----------|
			    |  output   |
			    -------------

This made it handy to show-and-tell with little live Perl snippets. 

TurboPerl, though adequate for this, was icky because:
  a) it crashes in response to font changes
  b) is win32 only
  c) doesn't allow for font control of the output window

I've also used "perl -de 0" with sufficiently large shell/cmd windows.
I've contemplated using Emacs or a Tk script (anyone have one they
would be willing to share?).  

I'm curious what other folks use for this purpose. Thanks!
