I prefer hands on, as long as I can get to my email during some of the lab time. :) At 400 or so incoming messages a day, plus about an hour's worth of Usenet time, I need all the net access I can get. The worst is a lab class with a small group (few questions during the lab) and no net access. I end up playing games on laptop, or reading a book. Although I personally prefer a modern Unix system, we've taught classes on win32 boxes, and even Macs telnet'ed into a Unix box editing locally on the Mac then FTP'ing to the command line host on the Unix side. Scary. Stonehenge is "top to bottom service". What the customer wants, we deliver, so we have to be flexible. And we've flexed many a direction. -- Randal L.
