Every time I have taught a course, I've had one like this.  I know what you
are going through.

 My only advice is: Don't let them slow you down!

Even if you are evaluated by student reviews, remember that the rest of the
class probably thinks this person is a much as an annoyance as you do.
They'll review you well, even if the person who can't even use an editor
flames you hard for not teaching how to use an editor.  :)



Another tactic that I have used for such people (if they aren't
belligerent---sounds like this wouldn't work in your case this time) is to
offer to stay after class an help them as long as they'd like.

I find the most they ever want to stay for is maybe a half an hour, and then
they review you highly.  When you make that kind of effort, I think that
it's hard for them to flame you on an evaluation.  After all, you tried your
best to help them.  Even if they are clueless, they can probably at least
see that.  :)
