Thanks for the input! I'll make the change you suggested. I saw that form
of the system call in The Perl Cookbook, but went with the simple version
as it was a personal application rather than a web application and I didn't
think I would hack myself. LOL. Always good to learn a better way!

Ghostscript was mentioned in the Perlmonks post that started all of this. I
tried convert first and it did what I needed, so I stopped there. I'll go
back and look at ghostscript for future reference.

Also, in software, never say "final version"! Guess I should have said
"latest" or "next" version....
