New Software Version Notification

Hi all. I have a program done in Perl using wxPerl (of course!) and each 
time I release a new version I have to post to various newsgroups. This 
must get tiresome for those who read them so I was wondering if there is 
a simple way to build a "new version" notification right into the 
software, much as many programs do today. Ideally, there would be a 
'canned' Perl module on CPAN for just such a purpose but I haven't seen 
it. Is this a relatively easy thing to do?
