claim is that the company culture I experienced at the time was not at all tolerant of any sexist crap above board, at all. So if someone had that sort of attitude, they could have had it privately - or maybe harassed their immediate surroundings. Which is plenty bad enough, don't get me wrong. Sexism, and sexual harassment, are huge no-nos in any educated culture.
But implicit in the corporate culture, this was absolutely not. On the contrary, and this is something I can speak for. If all you can see is very much against sexism during your entire time there, and no such things ever happen on company time... and many years later, there are articles in the media scandalising the very same company... then I call bullshit on this.

Sure there is. You create a reporting structure that allows victims to feel confident when they have to report someone harassing them. You have policies that make clear disciplinary action up to and including dismissal will arise from harassment. And you follow through. You'll never stop some self entitled jerk from harassing people, but you sure the hell can show him the door

Facts very much matter and TVNZ was able to independently verify some of the claims, like the porn mailing list. There is very likely to be ample evidence if people were emailing porn around, or organizing "Porn Friday".
So perhaps instead of just making some bullshit claims about the nature of male/female roles in modern society you could perhaps criticise the content of the article or defend this behaviour.

Hey, I think I worked there with you, upgrading & tuning the rendering system!
Every week we'd put in maximum effort, then each Friday we'd send out the test renders of bare assets. Almost everyone seemed quite pleased with the results.

The complainer was probably a woman (with maybe some soy boy idiot backing her up 'cos he thinks she will touch his pee pee).
Focused, hard work... are not qualities you get with female employees.
You may get some early female employees who are committed the actual purpose of the organisation, but the ones who come after them are ALWAYS a) mediocre quota hires b) know they are and bitter about it c) entitled.
The result is, after a few years, they have tried to 'assassinate' men in important roles with bullshit allegations, and demanded all the rules/benefit packages be rewritten to suit them. The company/organisation then becomes a support mechanism for women... and its original purpose is lost - and it's about this point that the men start to leave.
You see it in every company over time

In fact, I've been to few places with a less sexist and more professional workplace atmosphere before.
I suspect that the goal driven culture drives people to set aside their outside of work petty differences. And the flip side of this is that employees with too much time on their hands and no goal-driven focus tend to get involved in much more divisive social and political debating and divisiveness on the job. Facebook's solution may not be the answer. As they will still have too much spare time and think they were hired to be the social conscience of the company. They simply need to walk a lot of these people to the door.
It's not just left wing ideologies that cause trouble. When I was at Boeing, we had quite a few people that did marginal amounts of work but thought that their life mission was to spread the word of Jesus around the company.

People spend over half of their lives at the office. For most people their entire lives consist of going to work and then going home to just barely take care of their lives. People are constantly told, "Don't discuss politics. Don't discuss sex. Don't discuss your private life. Don't develop an attraction to anyone you spend your waking lives with here.", all while they spend the majority of their lives in these places.
Because it's a workplace and people need jobs and money, people can't just up and leave. Instead of everyone being tolerant and open minded and dealing with being uncomfortable, we end up with companies banning everything that could possibly upset anyone. Because everyone is fighting for more control over their daily lives, more pay, and more power, the only way to progress is to put your head down and never never act outside whatever "the norm" is or you'll be removed from the "team." Act human and you'll be removed as polite society has decided that sex isn't normal, other people are the only ones with "issues", and if you have any personal issues you can't hide you clearly have something wrong with you. Working in these environments becomes an exercise in pretending and acting. Opinions and politics are not for employees, you can do that when you are not an employee or dead.
It would be so nice to hear one day about a diverse group of people that worked together that was able to deal with everyone else's reality. Hell, this might even lead to more employment and less depression. Instead it's all about power plays, throwing each other under the bus, and complaining that "If not for X, I'd be further in my career!"
In the end it's all about presenting to the least tolerant people. Where does that get you? Well, it gets you here.
