IT HURTS

 Please read - My mom is a strict Christian woman. She is also extremely homophobic, transphobic and basically a bitch. She is also my best friend. If you look past all the bad stuff she is the best mom ever but today was bad. Really bad. I have a friend and his name is Eden. The thing is, eden is transgender and my mom doesn’t like that. Today my mom was talking about my depressed cousin and how we should go see her and I said sure. She then said that my cousin was even more depressed than *Eden’s deadname*(he used to be really depressed way back but he got better and I’m really proud of him). I told my mom not to use his deadname and to respect his pronouns. She said that it was her “opinion” and she can do what she wants. My mom claims that she’s not homophobic or transphobic and doesn’t hate them but she proceeds to disrespect my friend??? I said if she’s not transphobic then what pronouns Eden goes by shouldn’t affect her but she still wouldn’t listen. I said that if she was gonna be disrespectful then she should just not talk about HIM at all. My mom then STORMS off like an actual baby??? I’m not joking, she took her phone and stomped (like a toddler) to the living room with the angriest face ever. Here’s the part that stung, she said if I was gonna defend Eden then she isn’t my mom anymore. She said that I can’t talk to her anymore and that she doesn’t care about me anymore. At the time, I didn’t care about what she said but now it hurts. It hurts so much. I never would’ve expected those words to come out of her mouth and everything hurts. When what she said finally sunk in I started crying. Of course she didn’t see me crying but I realized that I got disowned. I’m nothing now. I just wanted to defend my friend. What do I do? I’m 14, with like 500 dollars saved up. What if she kicks me out? She’ll never forgive me, I’m so scared.

Calm down dude, it'll be hard to change her already strong opinion. I would say respect her and just don't bring the friend around or be friends with that guy. Is he that good of friend? Most mom's only have good intentions.

Get away from your mom as soon as you can. She's toxic and creepy, and will only get worse with time.

Just because she is 'family' does not mean she is good, or even loves you. Family often betrays their own.

I'd hate to see her in 20 years. She might be full on psycho by then, one who locks kids in basements "to ensure they come to God", and puts her tounge in the mouths of young women she is giving a 'friendly kiss' to. People like her are the stuff of horror movies.
