OTOH, the tomatoes from Mexico are often tasty with plenty acid and plenty sweetness in just the right combination... and make nice sandwiches well-slathered with Burman's mayo. This weekend, Mexican tomatoes were $3/lb. while the shitty Canadian "beefsteak" tomatoes were $1/lb. I took a Canadian tomato back and got a new one for it, but the new one was just as sorry as the first one--- mealy and rotten inside. Shame on you, Little Bob Ingle! Sometimes, you have to give Ingles credit for doing something nice for us plebeians. They had organic Campari tomatoes at half price a week or so ago, and I went wild buying them by the dozen. I never knew these scrumptious little jewels existed until a friend gave me a boxful a few years ago. They tasted like they had just been picked ripe and juicy out of a magical garden in Xanadu where they got just the right amount of rain and the perfect amount of sun. Perfick! (as Mad Martha would say.) S L U R P P P ! Yummers.
