Hey ... let's get REAL here. WE made them extinct ... they were "different", "trolls", "ogres" ... so we hunted them down. Nothing unusual here - humans ARE very xenophobic, often fanatically so. "Different" = Extreme Threat, always. All hail the troll hunters ! Those 'mutant' comic book movies had it exactly right. Anything even a degree or two away from "normal" gets ENSLAVED and/or EXTERMINATED. It's wired in our brains ... VERY hard to choose any other course.
