Side by sides vs the classic ATVs these days?

I live in southern Utah and over the years I've seen sidebys absolutely take over the market share of all terrain means of transportation. They're practically the de facto for tourist use of destination, no even need to buy them anymore, rent them for $100 bucks a day

I think I see a Honda 450r, Raptor, or the Yamaha YFZ on a trailer once a year anymore at a gas station, if that

What do you all think about how the movement towards sidebysides happened? It makes me miss my old gutless Recon and 250x in some ways as I go down this rabbit hole of memories

I actually almost convinced myself that these manufacturers stopped making those types of prototypical ATV, whether it was no longer cost effective or for safety, but when I went to Yamaha's site I was surprised they still make them, but they certainly aren't in my area. Are people buying them?

Any of the oldhats here care to chime in on their past and current history with the matter?
