Subaru uses the same ones, same subcontractor makes both manufacturer's 
CVT's. But they may be improving over the past decade. I like Toyota's 
design for CVT better, their transmission use a single manual-style 1st 
gear for starting off, and then use the CVT for 2nd on down to infinity. 
Puts less torque on the CVT during starting, letting the 1st gear take 
all of that load, and the CVT is mainly just used for highway and fast 
city driving.
