The main drawbacks to implementing social democracy in America include significantly higher tax burdens, risks of capital flight, and potential reductions in economic incentives. Nick failed to mention any of these drawbacks. Why? Nick has no incentives. That's why he came to this board. Social democracy relies on a large, regulated welfare state funded by progressive taxation. Funding universal healthcare, free higher education, and expansive family leave requires steep, broad-based tax increases that often affect middle-income earners, not just corporations and the wealthy.
