The reason I think (hope) the trend is going to be reversed is because 
that's the best way forward for a thriving civilization.

Our society will soon be reaching an inflection point. It will be forced 
to make choices that will either allow the rich to continue becoming 
exponentially richer while the middle class is destroyed, or it will 
make the necessary changes that allow a sustainable middle class to 
continue.

I think the most successful places will be the ones that choose a strong 
middle class along with the best tools and systems that allow them to 
thrive.
