A California man is facing multiple felony charges after investigators uncovered thousands of files of child sexual abuse material inside his vacation rental property. Christian Parmalee Edwards, 44, of Oakhurst in Madera County, was arrested and booked into jail Monday after authorities say they found more than 4,000 illicit digital files in his home, which he also rented out to short-term guests, according to The Fresno Bee. Detectives allege Edwards not only possessed and distributed the material, but also secretly recorded guests during private moments without their knowledge, leading to additional invasion of privacy charges. The investigation began after a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children flagged suspected online distribution activity in the area. Authorities served a search warrant Thursday at the Granite Butte Way property, seizing multiple electronic devices now undergoing forensic analysis. The case was handled in coordination with the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force in Central California, and officials say they are continuing to search for potential victims who may have stayed at the rental. An image of the home has been circulated as part of the ongoing investigation. Edwards remains in custody, with bail set at $75,000; hes not yet entered a plea. Protecting the innocent, upholding the law, and holding offenders accountable remains a top priority, said Madera County Sheriff Tyson Pogue, emphasizing the departments commitment to public safety. The case comes amid a broader surge in online exploitation. The Internet Watch Foundation reported a record 291,273 cases of child sexual abuse material in 2024 nearly 800 reports per day, the highest total ever recorded. https://nypost.com/2026/03/24/us-news/discovery-at-remote-california-vaca tion-mansion-leads-to-arrest/
