I was being sarcastic actually. Since at least WWI the US has striven
to teach the world to operate on our principles of freedom and
competition. This is a better way of surviving than the philosophy of
warring to take what one's neighbor has instead of creating your own.

I find it interesting that so many Americans these days, after decades
of fighting communism and exalting freedom, now complain that those
student nations are too free and too productive.

Our lead has moved to other areas. High tech, information services,
financial services. Consider the British Empire ended nearly a
century ago yet London remains a great center of finance. Only New
York City exceeds it in that sphere.

High tech development, innovation, services - we create and farm out
the manufacture to others.

The essential freedoms of thought and action inherent in American
systems of education, business and culture will always keep us ahead
of dictatorships like Venezuela, China or Russia.

We are free to think outside the box. They are not.
