Job 35: Simple Explanation of Elihu's Explanation

Elihu addresses Job's assertion that living a righteous life brings no 
benefit over living a sinful one. He counters this with a clear, 
two-part theological argument:

First, God is completely transcendent and self-sufficient. Human sin 
does not diminish God, and human righteousness adds nothing to Him. 
Moral actions impact other human beings, not God's essential nature or 
sovereignty. Righteousness is not a contract that obligates God to grant 
prosperity or immunity from suffering.

Second, God's silence during suffering is not injustice. Many people cry 
out under oppression purely out of physical distress and self-interest, 
rather than turning to God in humble faith and repentance. God does not 
answer empty, self-righteous demands. Job's claim that God is silent and 
unjust stems from a lack of true understanding of God's character and 
sovereignty.
