1 Chron 2

9 Ru 4:19; 1Ch 2:42Now the sons of Hezron, who were born to him, were
Jerahmeel, Ram, and Kelubai.

Sons of Ram

10 (Mt 1:4; Nu 1:7)Ram became the father of
Amminadab, and Amminadab became the father of Nahshon, 
a leader of the sons of Judah. 
11 (Ru 4:21; Mt 1:4-5) Nahshon became the father of Salma, and Salma 
became the father of Boaz. 12Boaz became the father of Obed, 
and Obed became the father of Jesse.
13 (1 Sa 17:13) Now Jesse became the father of
his firstborn Eliab, and Abinadab the second, and Shimea the third, 
14 Nethanel the fourth, Raddai the fifth, 
15 Ozem the sixth, David the seventh; 
16 (1Sa 26:6) their sisters were Zeruiah and Abigail. 
The sons of Zeruiah were Abishai, Joab, and Asahel, three in all. 
17 (2Sa 17:25) Abigail bore Amasa: the father of Amasa was Jether 
the Ishmaelite.

Sons of Caleb

18 Caleb the son of Hezron had children with his wife Azubah and with Jerioth. 
These are her sons: Jesher, Shobab, and Ardon. 
19 (1Ch 2:50) Now Azubah died, and Caleb took Ephrath as a wife. She bore Hur 
for him. 
20 (Ex 31:2) Hur became the father of Uri, 
and Uri became the father of Bezalel.
21 (Nu 27:1) Afterward Hezron had relations with the daughter of Makir, 
the father of Gilead, whom he took as a wife when he was sixty years old, 
and she bore Segub for him. 
22 Segub became the father of Jair, who had twenty-three cities in the land 
of Gilead. 
23 He took Geshur and Aram, the towns of Jair, from them, 
with Kenath and its villages, sixty towns. All these were descendants 
of Makir, the father of Gilead.
24 (1Ch 4:5) After the death of Hezron in Caleb Ephrathah, Hezron's wife 
Abijah bore him Ashhur the father of Tekoa.

Sons of Jerahmeel

25 Now the sons of Jerahmeel the firstborn of Hezron were
Ram the firstborn, Bunah, Oren, Ozem, and Ahijah. 
26 Jerahmeel also had another wife. Her name was Atarah, 
and she was the mother of Onam.
27 The sons of Ram the firstborn of Je­rahmeel were Maaz, Jamin, and Eker.
28 The sons of Onam were Shammai and Jada.
And the sons of Shammai were Nadab and Abishur.
29 The name of the wife of Abishur was Abihail. She bore him Ahban and Molid.
30 The sons of Nadab were Seled and Appaim, but Seled died without children.
31 (1Ch 2:34-35) The son of Appaim was Ishi. The son of Ishi was Sheshan,
and the son of Sheshan was Ahlai.
32 The sons of Jada the brother of Shammai were
Jether and Jonathan, but Jether died without children.
33 The sons of Jonathan were
Peleth and Zaza.
These were the sons of Jerahmeel.
34 Now Sheshan had no children except daughters,
but he did have a servant, an Egyptian, whose name was Jarha. 
35 Sheshan gave one of his daughters to Jarha his servant as a wife, 
and she bore him Attai.
36 (1Ch 11:41) Attai became the father of Nathan, and Nathan became 
the father of Zabad.
37 Zabad became the father of Ephlal, and Ephlal became the father of Obed.
38 Obed became the father of Jehu, and Jehu became the father of Azariah.
39 Azariah became the father of Helez, and Helez became the father of Eleasah.
40 Eleasah became the father of Sismai, 
and Sismai became the father of Shallum.
41 Shallum became the father of Jekamiah,
and Jekamiah became the father of Elishama.

Caleb's Clans

42 Now the sons of Caleb the brother of Jerahmeel were Mesha his firstborn, 
who was the father of Ziph, and the sons of Mareshah the father of Hebron.
43 The sons of Hebron were Korah, Tappuah, Rekem, and Shema. 
44 Shema became the father of Raham, the father of Jorkeam, 
and Rekem became the father of Shammai. 
45 (Jos 15:58) The son of Shammai was Maon, 
and Maon was the father of Beth Zur.
46 Ephah, Caleb's concubine, bore Haran, Moza, and Gazez, 
and Haran became the father of Gazez.
47 The sons of Jahdai were Regem, Jotham, Geshan, Pelet, Ephah, and Shaaph.
48 Maakah, Caleb’s concubine, bore Sheber and Tirhanah. 
49 Jos 15:31She also bore Shaaph the father of Madmannah, 
Sheva the father of Makbenah, and the father of Gibea. 
The daughter of Caleb was Aksah.
50 These were the sons of Caleb the son of Hur, the firstborn of Ephrathah:
Shobal the father of Kiriath Jearim, 
51 (1Ch 4:4) Salma the father of Bethlehem, 
and Hareph the father of Beth Gader.
52 (1Ch 4:2) Now sons were born to Shobal the father of Kiriath Jearim:
Haroeh and half of the Manahathites. 
53 (2Sa 23:38) The families of Kiriath Jearim were the Ithrites, the Puthites, 
the Shumathites, and the Mishraites. From these the Zorathites 
and the Eshtaolites went forth.
54 (Ezr 2:22; Ne 7:26) The sons of Salma were
Bethlehem, the Netophathites, Atroth Beth Joab, and half 
of the Manahath­ites, the Zorites. 
55 (Jdg 1:16; 2Ki 10:15) The families of the scribes who lived at Jabez were 
the Tirathites, the Shimeathites, and the Sucathites. They are the Kenites 
who came from Hammath, the father of the house of Rekab.

Other Sons of Judah

1 (Ge 46:12; 38:29) The sons of Judah 
were Perez, Hezron, Karmi, Hur, and Shobal.
2 Reaiah the son of Shobal became the father of Jahath, 
and Jahath became the father of Ahumai and Lahad. 
These are the families of the Zorathites.
3 These were the sons of the father of Etam:
Jezreel, Ishma, and Idbash. The name of their sister was Hazzelelponi. 
4 (1Ch 2:50; 4:18) Penuel was the father of Gedor, and Ezer was the father 
of Hushah.
These were the sons of Hur, the firstborn of Ephrathah, 
the father of Bethlehem.
5 (1Ch 2:24) Ashhur the father of Tekoa had two wives: Helah and Naarah.
6 Naarah bore him Ahuzzam, Hepher, Temeni, and Haahashtari. 
These were the sons of Naarah.
7 The sons of Helah were Zereth, Zohar, and Ethnan. 
8 Koz became the father of Anub and Hazzobebah 
and the families of Aharhel the son of Harum.
9 (Ge 34:19) Now Jabez was more honorable than his brothers, 
and his mother called his name Jabez, saying, 
"Because I bore him in hardship."
10 Then Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, 
"Oh, that You would indeed bless me and enlarge my territory, 
that Your hand might be with me, and that You would keep me from evil, 
that it may not bring me hardship!" So God granted what he asked.
11 Kelub the brother of Shuhah became the father of Mehir, 
who was the father of Eshton. 
12 Eshton became the father of Beth Rapha, 
aseah, and Tehinnah the father of Ir Nahash. These were the men of Rekah.
13 (Jos 15:17; Jdg 1:13) The sons of Kenaz were
Othniel and Seraiah,
and the sons of Othniel were
Hathath and Meonothai. 
14 Meonothai became the father of Ophrah,
and Seraiah became the father of Joab,
the father of Ge Harashim, for they were craftsmen.
15 (Nu 13:6) The sons of Caleb the son of Jephunneh 
were Iru, Elah, and Naam,and the son of Elah was Kenaz.
16 The sons of Jehallelel were Ziph, Ziphah, Tiria, and Asarel.
17 The sons of Ezrah were Jether, Mered, Epher, and Jalon, 
and Mered's wife bore Miriam, Shammai, and Ishbah the father of Eshtemoa. 
18 (1Ch 4:4) His Judean wife bore Jered the father of Gedor, Heber 
the father of Soko, and Jekuthiel the father of Zanoah. 
So these were the sons of Bithiah the daughter of Pharaoh, whom Mered took.
19 (Jos 15:44) The sons of his wife Hodiah, the sister of Naham, 
were the father of Keilah the Garmite and Eshtemoa the Maakathite.
20 The sons of Shimon were Amnon, Rinnah, Ben-Hanan, and Tilon.
And the sons of Ishi were Zoheth and Ben-Zoheth.
21 (Ge 38:5; 46:12) The sons of Shelah the son of Judah were
Er the father of Lekah, Laadah the father of Mareshah, 
the families of the house of workers of fine linen at Beth Ashbea; 
22 Jokim, the men of Kozeba, Joash, Saraph, who was lord in Moab, 
and Jashubi Lehem (these records are ancient). 
23 They were the potters, those dwelling at Netaim and Gederah 
(they dwelt there with the king for his work).

1 Samuel 1:1-8

1 SAMUEL 1

The Birth of Samuel

1 (1Sa 1:19; 1Ch 6:34) Now there was a certain man from Ramathaim Zuphim,
in the hill country of Ephraim, and his name was Elkanah, the son of Jeroham,
the son of Elihu, the son of Tohu, the son of Zuph, an Ephraimite.
2 And he had two wives; the name of one was Hannah and the name of the second
was Peninnah. Now Peninnah had children, but Hannah had no children.
3 (Ex 23:14; Dt 12:5-7) This man went up out of his city annually to worship
and to sacrifice to the Lord of Hosts in Shiloh. And there the two sons of Eli,
Hophni and Phinehas, were priests to the Lord.
4 (Dt 12:17-18; 16:11) When the day came that Elkanah sacrificed, he gave
portions to Peninnah his wife and to all her sons and her daughters.
5 (Ge 30:2) But to Hannah he gave a double portion because he loved Hannah,
but the Lord had closed her womb.
6 Now her rival provoked her greatly, making her miserable because the Lord
had closed her womb.
7 Thus it was yearly, when she went up to the house of the Lord,
that she provoked her. So Hannah wept and did not eat.
8 (Ru 4:15) Then said Elkanah her husband to her, "Hannah, why are
you weeping? And why do you not eat? Why is your heart grieved?
Am I not better to you than ten sons?"

eatest thou not? and why is thy heart grieved? am not I better to thee than

Acts 16:11-15

The Conversion of Lydia

11 From Troas we set sail on a straight course to Samothrace
and the next day to Neapolis,
12 (Php 1:1; 1Th 2:2) and from there to Philippi, which is the main city
of that part of Macedonia, and a colony. We stayed in this city several days.
13 (Ac 13:14) On the Sabbath we went out of the city to a riverside,
where prayer was customarily offered. And we sat down
and spoke to the women who had assembled.
14 (Lk 24:45; Ac 18:7) A woman named Lydia, a seller of purple fabric
of the city of Thyatira, who worshipped God, heard us.
The Lord opened her heart to acknowledge what Paul said.
15 (Ac 11:14; Heb 13:2) When she and her household were baptized,
she entreated us, saying, "If you have judged me to be faithful to the Lord,
come to my house and remain there." And she persuaded us.

[11] Therefore loosing from Troas, we came with a straight course to

[13] And on the sabbath we went out of the city by a river side, where

Thyatira, which worshipped God, heard us: whose heart the Lord opened, that
she attended unto the things which were spoken of Paul.
[15] And when she was baptized, and her household, she besought us, saying,
If ye have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, come into my house, and
abide there. And she constrained us.

During the US civil rights movement, famed New Orleans cook Leah Chase did 
what she could. She prepared food and fed those who were marching for equal 
rights for all people. She said, "I was just feeding people. They were 
fighting for something, and they didn't know what they would find when 
they went out there. They didn’t know what would happen to them on the 
streets. But when they were here, they knew I'd feed them. That's what 
I could do for them."

The gift of hospitality may sometimes be overlooked, but it can be just as 
important as other forms of serving one another in Christ. A businesswoman 
named Lydia-"a dealer in purple cloth" (Acts 16:14)-showed hospitality to 
Paul and the other preachers spreading the good news about Jesus to the 
people of Macedonia (vv. 11-15). She used what she had-her home-to help 
the traveling team. After accepting the gospel message, Lydia insisted on 
providing a place for the preachers to rest, saying, "If you consider me a 
believer in the Lord, . . . come and stay at my house" (v. 15). Much like 
the civil rights workers, Paul and his coworkers didn't need to worry about 
a meal due to Lydia's hospitality.

Gifts of hospitality can go a long way in helping all people-both fellow 
believers and those who still need Jesus. Let's serve others as God provides 
what we need to help them.

Week 2 - Saved by Grace - Day 1 - Sin Universal

Romans 3:23-24

23 (Ro 3:9) For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God,

through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus,

24 being justified freely by his grace through the redemption
that is in Christ Jesus:

A distinguished middle-aged man stood trembling before his church
to give his testimony. Years before, in the grip of a mental illness
that nearly destroyed his life, he had taken the life of his own daughter
and tried to kill himself. But he did not die; tried and convicted, he
spent years in prison, and even longer in the prison of his own guilt.
After the service, a young woman walked up to him and simply said,
"Thank you for sharing. I've sinned, too."
We've all sinned, too - lest we forget or rationalise, the Bible reminds
us in no uncertain terms. And the writer of these verses was no stranger
to sin: he was the Pharisee, the holier-than-thou religious leader
who officiated at the stoning death of Stephen. He was the Jew who had
scattered and killed the followers of this heretic called Christ. He
thought he was righteous while he murdered God's people.
Christians tends to establish a "hierarchy" of sin - sexual sin is "worse"
than pride: murder is "more horrible" than slander. Yet the Bible gives
no indication that god acknowledges our hierarchy. Sin is sin; all have
sinned, and if we are guilty at one point, we are guilty of all.
Rather than rationalise our individual sins as being "less bad"
than someone else's, we need to openly confess our dilemma as sinners
and turn to God for his remedy. We cannot and do not need to earn or
deserve that grace - it is a gift from God.

Application

a) Have I ever compared my sin with someone else's in order
to make myself fell like a better person? Why is such
comparison not a valid remedy for sin?

b) Why do I need to acknowledge my sin honestly before I can
receive justification?

The Muslim population of Manitoba, understandably centred in Winnipeg, is very
diverse and represents some 48 different cultural and ethnic backgrounds. 
Conservative estimates put their number at 21000 , with some suggesting 
it might be twice that size.
Some outreach among Muslims has started, yet in comparison to the size 
of this community, there is the need and opportunity for far more engagement.
Continued influx of new immigrants and refugees continues to see the growth
of this Muslim centre in Manitoba. 
We rejoice in the Arabic fellowship meeting there and the energetic workers
among Muslims in Winnipeg.

Let us intercede in unity for:

- new Christian workers among Manitoba's growing Muslim population
- new church ministries focused on prayer, equipping and reaching Muslim 
  communities around them, as well as training new workers
- the Arabic fellowship and their ministries of discipling new Muslim
  background believers and for effectiveness in outreach
- for the recent Somali woman who found faith  in Jesus and stood her ground
  in the face of opposition to her new faith.
- for current workers among Muslims to be blessed, refreshed and encouraged
   with great support

When the new moon is sighted it marks the beginning of t he new Islamic month
and Eid al-Fitr, the "Festival of Breaking the Fast", will start! After 30 days
of fasting, the Eid  celebration at the end of Ramadan is a joyful time that 
usually lasts about 3 days. Muslims will buy new clothes, exchange gifts and,
of course, enjoy special foods. In Muslim-majority nations, the streets may be
decorated and festivals will be held.

For many Muslims, Eid-al-Fitr begins with communal prayers at daybreak and the
distribution of money (zakat) to the poor, which is one of the 5 pillars of
Islam.

You can greet Muslim friends during this time by saying "Eid Mubarak",
which means Blessed Eid!"

Ramadan is over for this year, but you can continue to pray for Muslims you 
know, and Muslims around the world:

- Despite the unsettling developments in our world today that involve actions
in the name of Islam, there is at the same time a largely untold story about
unprecedented movement to Christ among Muslims. There have been more such
movements of thousands or more new disciples among Muslims in the last three
decades or so than in all the previous history of Christian Muslim
relationships! Pray for this momentum to continue.
Acts 2:12-17 :  17 "In the last days it shall be," says God,
"that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh; 
your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, 
your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams.
18 Even on My menservants and maidservants 
I will pour out My Spirit in those days; and they shall prophesy. 
19 And I will show wonders in heaven above and signs on the earth below: 
blood, and fire, and vapor of smoke.  20 The sun shall be turned into darkness,
and the moon into blood, before that great and glorious day of the Lord comes.
21 And whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved."[a]

Romans 12:13 "contribute to the needs of the saints, practice hospitality."
- When you gather with fellow believers, remember to pray for Muslims 
throughout the year and encourage them to also participate in 30 Days! 

My paternal side is of Muslim heritage and will offer this section to further
call for Muslim converts to Christian and any other converts to Christianity
(Hindus, Jews, aboriginals Canadian, ...) .

a) Pray for a more effective witness by the church in every Canadian community

Deut 4:6-7

6 (Job 28:28; Pr 1:7 ) Therefore, keep and do them, for this is your wisdom and
your understanding in the sight of the nations which shall hear all these 
statutes, and say, "Surely this great nation is a wise and 
understanding people." 
7 (2Sa 7:23; Ps 46:1) For what nation is there so great, who has a god so near
           to it as the Lord our God is in all things whenever we call on Him?

6 Keep therefore and do them; for this is your wisdom and 
your understanding in the sight of the nations, which shall hear all these
statutes, and say, Surely this great nation is a wise and 
understanding people. 
7 For what nation is there so great, who hath God so nigh unto them, 
as the LORD our God is in all things that we call upon him for?

b)  Pray for the province of British Columbia

I) Pray for the leaders of British Columbia, 
that God's Spirit would influence then to
act justly, serve with integrity and honour high moral standards. 
( 1 Tim 2:1 - 4) 1 Therefore I exhort first of all that you make supplications,
prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings for everyone, 2 (Ezr 6:10) for kings
and for all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceful life
in all godliness and honesty, 3 (1Ti 1:1; Lk 1:47) for this is good and 
acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, 4 (Eze 18:23; 18:32)who desires all
men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.

1 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers,
intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; 2 for kings, 
and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable 
life in all godliness and honesty. 3For this is good and acceptable 
in the sight of God our Saviour; 4 who will have all men to be saved, 
and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.

II) Pray for the churches of the province, that they would be lighthouses
beaming forth the illuminating truth of God's Word.

III) Pray that the Lord would use the Finding the Hope Campaign and booklet 
to turn many hearts to Jesus

Conclusion:

Pray to the Lord to understand His Miracles.

Pray to the Lord and pray to expand your godly influence and thank Him for
His ordering of history and His redemption.

Pray to the Lord: "Dear God, thank You for those who've 
shown hospitality to me. Please show 
me how to serve others in love."

Pray to the Lord and pray to know that 
we as sinner need the Lord for redemption. 

Pray to the Lord and pray to the Lord to root righteousness.

Pray to the Lord and pray not to give into anger.
