Open refers to source. That is only part of the story, as you well know, 
because one of your fave topics, copyright and 'copyleft' have to be 
dealt w/ by some kind of the myriad 'licenses' for open source 'libre' ware.

Consequently, something as simple as opensource and copyleft become 
quite complex, which is no fun.

You *could* do us something loquacious and entertaining on that theme.
