As the title says, I have to manually start fan control now when booting up= my system and did not have this problem with previous versions. Other than= having to manually boot it up, it works perfectly fine. I have the program= set to start with windows with the minimum allowable delay of 1 sec, but f= or some reason the program is not respecting this setting as it used to wit= h previous versions. Is there a fix for this? It doesn't seem that windows 11 has an equivalent startup apps folder. You = can go under apps then startup apps, but fan control doesn't show up there = because it might be too low level. I read something elsewhere about using o= ptions in task manager to mark the fan control app as launch on startup, bu= t I don't see any options to do that. I am at the moment working on a project that, among other things, controls = the computer fans. Basically, the fans are controlled by the superIO chip o= f your computer. We access the chip directly using port-mapped IO, and from= there we can get to the logical fan device. Using port-mapped IO requires = the code to run in kernel mode, but windows does not supply any drivers for= generic port IO (with good reason, since it is a very powerful tool), so w= e wrote our own driver, and used that. My understanding is that under OS X I can use the smcFanControl app to manu= ally specify the fan RPMs, but I have not been able to find a similar way t= o control or fix the fan speed once I am booted into Windows. When I did th= is sort of experimenting on my Macbook Air there seemed to be a method whic= h involved setting the desired setting in smcFanControl in OS X and then so= metimes rebooting into windows would have the setting stick. This would bas= ically get the job done if it works on the rMBP as well, but I'd prefer som= ething friendlier. This solution doesn't work on computer reboot for me.
