I can answer this one. Way back when I was a student, I made a credit
card purchase related to a vacation for myself. The business I patronized
performed a test transaction on my credit card. No problem, except that
they accidentally entered a dolllar amount that was ten times what would
have been reasonable. This blew out my credit limit and caused a series
of attempted vacation-related purchases to fail. It took me a while to
find the problem, and the only remedy was to wait a few days for the
bad transaction to vanish.

I wasn't using Quicken at the time, but the "pending transaction" feature
would have helped. Naturally, I enabled this feature in Quicken
immediately.
