Well the one big advantage of the 1990s tablet I've got is unlike
modern ones the software isn't "welded onto it". It's a standard PC
architecture, complete with PCMCIA, so none of the software horrors
of ARM platforms which have rendered the other tablet I've got
useless.

Bah, those things _aren't_ worth using - they only exist in
software hell, and offer no hardware expansion opportunities. Mind
you I've never really had a good use for any tablet/smartphone, but
with the cost of printer paper tripling here in Aus I'm thinking
the old one might be good to use as a document viewer instead of
printing out long documents to read. It's no heavier than many
books.
