   These blood feuds go back thousands of
   years. Nobody even remembers why they
   started.

   Israel ... it's been mostly good, but SOME bad IMHO.

   The "settlements" (aka invade/genocide) are a biggie.
   Nobody dares oppose the 'ultra-orthodox' faction.

   In some respects you're correct. "Israel", the
   territory, was largely ignored for a long time.
   The modern incarnation though totally upset the
   power equation in the region. Israel become too
   strong, too rich, too influential, WAY too fast
   and everybody around wants to destroy it.

   Those ancient blood-feuds didn't go away.
