Actually what I do now is go to my team's website: www.mets.com Then I use the jaws "find" command and type in listen I make sure that it's the link that just says "listen and hit enter. Then I type in the user name and password when it prompts me for it. Then I'm listening to my announcers. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Anthony R Candela" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Thursday, April 17, 2008 10:04 AM Subject: [VICUG-L] MLB.COM Major League Baseball on the Web: 2008 Instructions for blind users. By Tony Candela who spent an hour with a very patient mlb.com customer service employee to whom he is grateful. For assistance, call the mlb.com Customer Support department at 1-866-800-1275 for troubleshooting and to assure you are properly subscribed and have a working password. For best results in getting to your game, use the following web address: www.mlb.com/mediacenter Save this address in your favorites. Go to the mlb.com/mediacenter web site and use your screenreader search feature to find a radio station that broadcasts your favorite team and which you know is playing live at the moment (e.g., based on time of day, my test stations have been KABC in Los Angeles and WFAN in New York). Press ENTER on the link Search for "e-mail address" and press ENTER on the edit box. Fill in your e-mail address. Tab to the next box and enter your password. Tab twice to the submit button and press the space bar. If your computer does not have Microsoft Silverlight media player already installed, the screen you will be brought to will ask you to install it. Search for the word "install" and press ENTER on the link. On the new screen that comes up, find the "install now" button or link and press ENTER. The Silverlight media player software, mlb.com's preferred media player, will begin to download. It is safe to allow this process to take place. There may be one more "install now" button to press before the process is completed. When prompted, tab to the "run" button and press space bar. This prompt may happen twice, so press space bar on the run button again if it comes up. The "close" button should appear and be enunciated almost immediately. Find it if your screenreader does not enunciate it and press space bar. This closes the Silverlight installation screen. Close all screens with alt-F4, turn off your computer for best results. Reboot your computer, go back to Internet Explorer and to the mlb.com/mediacenter website. If all has gone well, you will be ready for a normal approach to getting your game. Here it is. Use your screenreader's "find" feature to land on the radio station link you originally selected (e.g., KABC) and press ENTER on the link. You will be placed in a log in screen. Since your screenreading software may not enunciate everything on its own, find and fill in the e-mail address and password boxes to log in again. The radio station should come on line.
