PhD studentship Deadline for applications: 16 May, 2016 Start date: 1 October, 2016 Duration: 3 years Details of how to apply: http://www.jobs.cam.ac.uk/job/10045/ The two positions will be part of the new LEXICAL (Lexical Acquisition across Languages) project, funded by the European Research Council (ERC) in the form of a Consolidator Grant awarded to Anna Korhonen. The aim of the project is to develop a novel computational framework for learning and transferring lexical information across languages without the need for parallel resources. The project will cover a variety of typologically diverse languages and language domains and will demonstrate the usefulness for NLP applications such as machine translation. 1. The Research Associate position is for 3 years starting from 1 September 2016. The successful applicant will have completed a Ph.D. degree in computational linguistics, artificial intelligence, machine learning, computer science, or a related discipline and will be able to demonstrate an excellent track record of independent research and strong publications. Essential skills include: excellent programming skills, statistical natural language processing techniques, machine learning, as well as proven collaborative, communication and networking skills. The PhD studentship is for 3 years starting from 1 October, 2016. The successful applicant will have a good Master's degree (equivalent of first-class distinction) in computational linguistics, artificial intelligence, computer science, or a related discipline, completed by 30 September 2016. He/she will have strong programming skills and previous experience in NLP and/or machine learning. Previous experience with deep learning and/or joint learning and inference may be considered an advantage. The grant covers university fees and maintenance for the period of three years.
