Bug ID: 70082
Summary: Upgrading assumes compilation from vanilla source
Product: Apache httpd-2
Version: 2.5-HEAD
Hardware: All
URL: https://httpd.apache.org/docs/trunk/en/install.html#up
grading
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: Documentation
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Target Milestone: ---
The Upgrading section of the Compiling and Installing page contains:
> To upgrade across minor versions, start by finding the file config.nice in the build directory of your installed server or at the root of the source tree for your old install.
This assumes httpd was installed by compiling vanilla source, which is
typically not the case. For example, on a Debian system, a single operation
(like # apt install apache2) generally suffices for a minor upgrade.
