Bug ID: 70118
Summary: README claims homepage contains =E2=80=9Cdetails of the=
latest
version=E2=80=9D
Product: Apache httpd-2
Version: 2.4.68
Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: NEW
Severity: trivial
Priority: P4
Component: Documentation
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Target Milestone: ---
The README contains a =E2=80=9CThe Latest Version=E2=80=9D section, which r=
eads:
> Details of the latest version can be found on the [Apache HTTP server pro=
ject page](https://httpd.apache.org/).
>=20
The httpd project=E2=80=99s homepage does contain *information* about the l=
atest
version (in particular, its =E2=80=9Cnumber=E2=80=9D), but details are actu=
ally on
https://www.apache.org/dist/httpd/Announcement2.4.html or pages that links =
to.
While just changing =E2=80=9CDetails of=E2=80=9D to =E2=80=9CInformation on=
=E2=80=9D may fix, providing
information on the latest version via a product=E2=80=99s website has becom=
e banal,
making this look obvious and dated. I suggest either merging that section w=
ith
the first item from the Contacts list, or just removing (or moving to the
website).
By the way, that section visibly uses Markdown syntax, but the file is not a
Markdown file.
