How to use mod_layout with zlib

Hello All.

I am use right now mod_layout in all my sites except php archives for
problems with compression.

I read that mod_layout is not compatible with zlib compression, but I want
to know if this is true. I have to use zlib for use php-nuke sites and GD
Library.

So, I have any possibility to can use mod_layout with zlib with no problems?

With any of this data I can modify this setting?

zlib.output_compression
zlib.output_compression_level
zlib.output_handler
