(dis)advantages of streaming methods

I've tried searching the documentation and list archives, but was unable
to find succinct documentation on the differences (and namely,
advantages/disadvantages) of streaming via mod_mp3 versus other methods.
I've seen comparisons of non-Open Source streaming servers (i.e.,
RealServer) versus HTTP streaming, but would like to see the same
comparison between mod_mp3 and HTTP.  More than anything, I'm wondering
the difference in the headers, but a full comparison including appropriate
technical details would be insightful.  Can anyone point me in the
direction of such documentation?
