ActivePerl 5.16 & CPAN

Hi.

I know this is a mod_perl list, not a perl list per se, but maybe someone here knows the 
issue..

On my Windows XP laptop, I have just de-installed my old Perl 5.10 and installed 
ActivePerl 5.16 (which caused some issues with mod_perl now resolved, see previous post 
today).
But I am having another problem : whenever I try to install a CPAN module, it starts 
nicely enough, but then invariably crashes at some point with a message :

C:Perlbinperl.exe: not found
dmake.exe:  Error code 255, while making 'blib\lib\.exists'

(a more lengthy excerpt below).

I figure that it must be misinterpreting the backslashes in the path to Perl (which is at 
C:\perl\bin\perl), but I cannot imagine that I would be the only one to have experienced this.
Any clue as to how to fix this ?
