I'm not exactly an Amanda code hacker. I've only done perl wrappers and such. So, I'm not going to 
be much help.

I think the silence may be in part because none of the users have encountered this particular issue.

People who have actually worked on the Amanda code could probably track it down, but would likely 
need more information, such as the debug logs. It's possible that there are some delays in their 
response due to the transition as Zmanda was recently acquired from Carbonite by BETSOL – 
https://betsol.com/2018/05/betsol-completes-the-acquisition-of-zmanda-enterprise-backup/. I haven't 
heard anything from the folks at Zmanda with regard to this.

I've forwarded a message below that came from someone on BETSOL's Zmanda team. I was going to just 
link it from the Amanda-users list archives, but it is not included in the thread there. I'm 
guessing that Pavan Raj was not on the Amanda-users or hackers list and so the message bounced. But, 
since he did address it with CC to both lists, I'm assuming there is nothing wrong with me posting 
it back to the list, in spite of the "legal boiler plate" at the bottom of his message.

I am part of the Zmanda team at BETSOL and I want to take this opportunity to give a quick informal 
update.

We had a successful and seamless transition of the customers to our platforms. I am happy to say 
that we

didn’t see any outage issues from the customers during the transition. We have kept our focus on 
support

services to make sure that customers are not impacted.

I agree that the activity levels in the blog and other places, are lower than what we would desire 
in an ideal

Situation and we are working hard to change it soon.

A new version of Zmanda.com will be live later this year. We intend to upgrade Amanda.org with the help

of community. We are updating the wiki platform to the latest version to minimize issues going forward.

Please let me know the changes you were trying to make, I can help you with pushing those changes to 
wiki.

We have retained the Zmanda team that we could and we intend to leverage on their experience (about a

decade with Zmanda) to improve the offerings. We have cleaned up most of the support backlog after the

acquisition. I am very confident of making Zmanda best in class by working with the open source 
community.

I look to forward to hearing more feedback.

We have an interesting line up of features for the next couple of major releases of Zmanda product 
line in

terms of supported applications, operating systems and cloud storage. Watch out for more updates in 
this space.

I assume we take them at their word that it will be a seamless transition. There is supposed to be a 
new Zmanda website in the works. My sense was that it had become stale under Carbonite. For example, 
the blogs show 2013 as the latest entry. I've also had some trouble editing the wiki at multiple 
times over the last couple of years.

Who is still with Zmanda in the core team and management? Are they going to be adding anyone? Or 
getting help from BETSOL?

Just wondering if anyone has any inside information they want to share – realizing it is still early 
in the game.
