I am unsure whether I miss a message here or to what you refer concerning=
 your '/buster install/' but could you please confirm, you have an=C2=A0 =
/etc/amanda-security.conf=C2=A0 containing a line pointing to your tar bi=
nary like:

=C2=A0*amgtar:gnutar_path=3D/usr/bin/tar*
