OK, thanks. That makes sense.

Perhaps you could suggest to them that they review Audacity 2.2.1
which is due to be released later this month.
It has a lot of improvements and bug fixes since 2.1.2, and well worth
the update (which is of course free and remains licensed under GPL
v2).
